FAQs
What kind of frosting should I use?
We just use store-bought regular frosting (not whipped or cream cheese) since it's so easy! Each house uses less than a 16-oz jar of frosting, typically. Some stores (such as Dollar Tree) have a 10-oz tub of frosting, which is perfect. You can also make your own frosting, if you prefer.
Do I just spread the frosting right on the wood?
Yes! Gingerwood Houses are made of pine with a food-safe mineral oil and beeswax finish. No need to cover with graham crackers, just spread or pipe the frosting directly on the wood and start decorating!
Can I/my kids eat the candy off the house?
Yes! Since both the wood and coating are food-safe, feel free to pick off and eat the candy while the house is on display.
How do I clean my Gingerwood House?
Simply rinse your Gingerwood House under hot water until the frosting and candy start to soften. Clean gently with your hands or a soapy sponge. Do not use any scraping implements, except a toothpick to clear frosting from under the roof overhangs. Dry with a towel and let air dry fully before storing. DO NOT PUT GINGERWOOD HOUSE INTO DISHWASHER. IT WILL FALL APART.
Why does my house feel a little oily?
Gingerwood Houses are coated in a food-safe mixture of mineral oil and beeswax. After being used and washed, this patina will go away, while still remaining as a protective finish in the pores of the wood.
How big is a Gingerwood House?
Each house is 4.5" x 4.5" x 7" (11.4 x 11.4 x 17.75 cm), the perfect size for each person to decorate their own.
